Abstract:
First, our nation spends over hundreds of billions of dollars on wasteful procedures that often are even harmful to patients. This talk discusses about how AI can play a role to reduce overdiagnosis, overtreatment and misdiagnosis – cut health spending while improving care. Second, today most medical AI applications focus on data generated from single modality (notably in medical imaging), practical AI should converge all relevant information of patients generated by various clinical modalities to reflect how physicians think in making decisions and delivering care. I will highlight some AI projects at Houston Methodist to showcase the power of convergent AI in delivering these two concepts.
