Will artists ever become obsolete ? Will Ai ever be capable of producing fine art, and not simply low-tier imitations ? Starting with the famous painting cut-scene from “Detroit become Human”, I elaborate my thoughts on this crucial issue.

It’s a question that’s worth thinking about, after all, a couple of decades ago, nobody thought machines could be superior at chess or go, but now there’s no way to deny it, they crush absolutely all humans. It’s not just a matter of pure calculation power, Ai is also capable of learning on its own : like the best chess engine, Alphazero, learned entirely on its own, playing millions of games against itself, with no access to any human theory on the game.

So, of course now, most AI art is rather weak and blurry, it’s a brand new field of experience. But the question is still valid : can we crank up the machine, feed it with all the images we’ve created in the history of art and program it teach itself how to create the masterpieces of the future ?

About me (bio) :

I am an artist living and working in France. I learned the techniques of the Atelier of the Nineteenth century and now I try to share some of my knowledge with the rest of the world, because I think that beauty still has an important role to play in artistic creation. I do mostly drawing and oil painting, and my goal is always to provide techniques and explanations that can be useful to anyone, from beginners to more advanced artists.
