Abstract:
This talk is addressed to people looking to understand the significance of Natural Language Processing (NLP) as an emerging tool in healthcare analytics. I kept two general groups in mind, technical people looking to strategize their technical development, and managers looking to learn how NLP can serve a long-term vision for their unit. I see NLP as an intellectual asset which opportunistic leaders would either be quick to harness, or late to harness. Harness they shall. I’ll make the above cases by telling about NLP on a high level, present some key use cases, dive into examples from healthcare, and tell about some of the work we are doing in MSK. To finish, I’ll suggest several future impacts that NLP is expected to have on healthcare.
