Aidan Gomez is a machine learning researcher at Google Brain and PhD student at Oxford University.

Aidan has worked on state-of-the-art deep learning projects with Geoff Hinton and Jeff Dean, and is also a founder of FOR.ai, a program dedicated to helping young researchers learn cutting-edge machine learning techniques through international project collaboration.

We sat down with Aidan to talk about the openness and accessibility of the machine learning community, how aspiring data scientists and machine learning researchers can break into the field, and the obstacles standing in the way of artificial general intelligence.
